Derek is an accomplished litigator with extensive experience
resolving complex business and real estate disputes, including contract, tort,
and property ownership. Derek graduated from the University of San Diego School
of Law in 2011, and Cornell University in 2008.
Before founding Privado Law, Derek worked for a regional
construction litigation firm in San Diego, California, litigating complex
construction disputes for large public works contractors in State and federal court.
And before that, Derek worked for a regional litigation firm in Park City,
Utah, litigating real estate, HOA, construction, and insurance disputes in State
and federal court.
With Privado Law, Derek has expanded his representation to
water rights litigation, renewable energy litigation, and civil appeals, in both
California and Utah, and the 9th and 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. Throughout
his career, Derek has recovered millions of dollars in damages for his clients,
and protected his clients against hundreds of millions of dollars in damages.
